Hibari for Twitter App Reviews

Hibari is one of the cleanest Twitter apps that Ive used. I love it. The only thing that I consider important thats missing as of this version is support for multiple accounts, but I still gave it five stars since I know that its now coming hopefully real soon. Great work!

Hibari is a lovely Twitter client that supports the best of Twitter and helps me avoid the worst. Its easy for me to keep the signal to noise of my Twitter feed high by using keyword blocking and temporarily muting users. Hibari has great keyboard shortcuts... I especially love hitting right arrow to expand threaded conversations, for those times when 140 characters dont provide sufficient context.

Fast, streamlined, clean interface. Definitely geared for quickly keeping up with your Twitter Stream without a lot of fluff. The Saved Search and Keyword Block features are also excellent.

I am an iOS developer and I needed a twitter client that could fit next to the ipad simulator on my 15 inch Macbook Pro, had growl support for mentions for when I am on a different screen with xcode, and that wouldnt be distracting to the eye with color schemes that would pull my focus away from my work on the simulator. It is great that twitter has a free client but since the window would follow me around between spaces without a setting it was an instant deal breaker for me. Hibari fit the bill perfectly for my needs. $14 is a small price to pay for software that fills your exact needs and to help support an indie mac dev to create great software. Victoria was nice enough to offer promo codes for existing users that predate the mac app store via the @hibariapp twitter feed as well. Great Software and service!

With the "New Twitter" interface available, it makes sense to view the desktop client as serving a different purpose than just the timeline, or navigating around. What makes Hibari perfect are a few, subtle features that work together to create something of a custom stream of tweets, with search terms inlined into the main timeline. This lets you see the information you care to see in a glance. You see not just your friends tweets, or frequent re-tweets, but also what people are saying about the topics you care about. The ability to also keep those search hits filtered to english is another unique feature that keeps the timeline more readable. Ultimately people use Twitter for different purposes, but as the volume continues to grow, the filtering and searching are becoming critical. Without it, you constantly feel like you are either missing something, or deluged with too much content. The Hibari searches, blocks, mutes, and filter help make Twitter much more useful.

Hibari is a relative newcomer to the Mac Twitter client genre, but dont let that fool you. The developer is very active and adds features and bug fixes often, and genuinely cares about customer feedback. This app is fast and stable, and will continue to innovate in future releases. Hibari also has some unique features, such as muting a user, keyword filtering, and saved searches.

Id like to compliment the developer on providing excellent service for an issue I had with the app.

This is an excellent little app. Well worth the price, if only for the filtering and muting capabilities. My only complaint is that I can only be signed into one account at a time.

Hibari, a Twitter app featuring simple design that works, is nearly perfect for anyone who wants to streamline their Twitter feed. It was the first Twitter app I found for Mac that provided the power to mute those who get a little too comfortable on their soapbox. Users can block several criteria. Think #oscars. Think #superbowl. Think #politics. Pick a user or hashtag and strip it out of the feed. The developer has promised the one feature Hibari lacks that I depend on, support for Tweet Marker. Im looking forward to using version 1.6.

But its not enough to convince me to use this app as full-time app. It used to be very potential but too slow to become a mature app.

I loved this at first, until I realized that it didn’t support uploading images. I asked the developer about it and was basically told that they’re not working on this app and are focused on other projects. There is nothing in the app description that says that it doesn’t have image uploads and I feel ripped off. This is basic functionality for a twitter client. Wish I could get my money back.
